Citizen Written Complaints Against Police Department Personnel

You may file a complaint by completing a Confidential Lansing Police Department Report of Complaint Against Police Personnel form and returning the form to the Lansing Police Department, located at 800 1st Terrace, Lansing Kansas 66048. 

Please note that complaints will not normally be accepted more than 30 days after the alleged incident with the following exceptions:

• The act complained of is a criminal violation in which case the criminal statute of limitations will prevail.
• The complainant can show good cause for not making the complaint earlier.

The goal is to process all complaints within 30 days.  The Captain or his designee will notify the complainant in writing acknowledging the receipt of the complaint, advising that the complaint is under investigation and that the investigation will be completed in a timely manner, and that the complainant will be advised of the outcome.  Should the investigation exceed 30 days, the complainant will be provided a letter explaining the circumstances of the delay.
