The Lansing Tree Board provides recommendations to the Governing Body regarding trees in public areas, as well as guidance on any unique situations that may arise within their purview. Volunteers are appointed for three-year terms and are required to attend meetings on the second Thursday of January, March, May, September, and November.

The Lansing Tree Board plays an essential role in ensuring that the City of Lansing retains its status as a Tree City USA. Responsibilities include promoting the community forest, encouraging the public to plant trees, offering recommendations, and assisting in related events such as the City's Arbor Day Ceremonial Tree Planting.
