Jake Kowalewski
Council member Jake Kowalewski was appointed to fill out a four-year term on the City Council in July 2024. He will complete the term of former Council member Marcus Majure, who resigned due to moving out of the city limits.
Council member Kowalewski was born and raised in Leavenworth County. He graduated from Leavenworth High School in 2005 and moved to Lansing in 2008. Kowalewski's wife, Jessica, is a life long Lansing resident and teacher at USD 469. Their daughter, Finley, currently attends Lansing Intermediate School.
Council member Kowalewski held positions prior to his City Council appointment with the Lansing Planning Commission and Lan-Del Water District from 2019 to 2024. He is a graduate of the Citizens Academy and Leadership Southern Leavenworth County. He holds a Bachelors degree in Technology Management from University of Central Missouri as well as a Masters of Engineering degree from University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Professionally, Kowalewski is an operations and maintenance director for utilities within the water, wastewater, and storm water sector.
