Trash, recycling, and yard waste pick up

The City of Lansing contracts with Waste Management for residential pick up on Thursday of each week. All items should be out for pickup by 6:00 a.m. on Thursday. Yard waste is limited to 12 paper composting bags per week, with each bag weighing no more than 50lbs. Dirt is not considered yard waste.

Waste Management observes the following holidays when they occur between Monday - Thursday. On these weeks, the normal trash collection will move one day later: 

New Year's Day
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day, and
Christmas Day 

The charge for trash service appears on your sewer/trash bill each month.  If your trash is missed, please submit a citizen request at portal.lansingks.org. Should you have any questions, please call our office at 913-727-2487, week days from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
