The city of Lansing and RG Fiber of Baldwin City, Kans. have entered into an agreement to bring more broadband service choice to local residents.

Through Federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding, Lansing is utilizing $800,000 of its allocation to facilitate the deployment of RG Fiber’s products in the City. One of the many goals of the ARPA was to increase the availability of broadband in the nation and the City feels this deployment will assist greatly with that goal at the local level.

“We are looking forward to RG Fiber coming to Lansing and providing their services,” said Lansing Mayor Tony McNeill. “This will give our residents more choice when it comes to selecting an Internet provider. With even more of our residents now working remotely from home, we welcome faster Internet speeds.”

“We’re excited to partner with the city of Lansing to secure the community’s digital future. This paves the way for RG Fiber to secure millions of capital investment dollars to be invested locally. Infrastructure development is a complex, multi-year endeavor that is already underway. As soon as materials are available, the RG Fiber crew will begin construction with the goal of connecting the first 1,500 customers by the end of 2022. Residents and businesses can show support by joining our waiting list at rgfiber.com/signup or just give us a call,” said Mike Bosch, Founder/CEO of RG Fiber.

About RG Fiber:

Founded in 2014, RG Fiber re-imagined how local internet service could be sustainably designed, built, and operated using modern cloud technologies. By 2021, the RG Fiber crew proved the concept by connecting seven underserved, rural, small-town communities throughout northeast Kansas directly to the backbone of the internet. Now, through old-fashioned hard work and American innovation, RG Fiber is bringing internet equality to the rest of us.
