New Hires
All new hires must successfully complete a pre-employment health assessment and/or a drug screening as well as a criminal background check.
With the exception of department directors and the city administrator, the City Code requires all new employees to reside within a 30 mile radius of the City of Lansing. Department directors must reside within the school district boundaries of USD 469 of Lansing for 5 years. After 5 years, department directors must reside within the corporate boundaries of Leavenworth County. The city administrator must reside within the school district boundaries of USD 469 of Lansing. At the time of employment, directors do not need to be residents of the City of Lansing, but must establish residency in the city within six months upon completion of the probationary period.
All employees must possess a valid driver's license.
