Failure to Appear
If you have a court appearance scheduled and you fail to appear, the consequences can be quite serious so it is to your advantage to make attendance at court a priority.
- For minor traffic violations, the judge will order that your fines be doubled and a late notice letter will be sent to you, giving you 30 days to comply with the citation. Failure to comply within that 30-day period will result in the suspension of your driving privileges and state-required reinstatement fees (currently $122.00 per violation) being added to your amount due.
- For more serious violations, your failure to appear will cause a bench warrant to be issued for your immediate arrest. If you are arrested on that warrant, you could remain in jail until the next available court date.
